2C Computing Forms Strategic Relationship With Mobility Electronics

2C and Mobility to Integrate Split Bridge Technology with Digital Extension Technology Developed at Avocent

HUNTSVILLE, AL, (July 27, 2000) - Today, 2C Computing, Inc. a pioneer in digital extension technology™ for the computer industry, announced that it has entered into a strategic partner agreement with Mobility Electronics, Inc. to integrate Mobility Electronics' Split Bridge™ technology with 2C Computing's digital extension technology. This integration combines Split Bridge technology from Mobility with Digital Extension technology developed at Avocent and licensed through Cycom, LLC. 2C Computing intends to use this technology to solve inherent problems in distributed computing environments.

Terms of the strategic partner agreement for 2C Computing's use of Mobility's patented Split Bridge technology include a $2 million technology transfer fee, payable over time, and royalties on products that incorporate the Split Bridge technology. 2C Computing may also purchase certain Split Bridge links such as chips, connectors and cables from Mobility.

In addition, as part of this strategic partner agreement, Mobility Electronics and 2C Computing plan to jointly develop new ASIC chips and related products, which the parties believe will expand the capability of current Split Bridge and Avocent technology. Mobility will retain cross-license rights on any technology developed as a result of this new joint development program.

"This agreement is the outcome of our second license opportunity for our Split Bridge technology, and represents another milestone in the history of our company," said Charlie Mollo, president and CEO of Mobility Electronics. "We believe that our Split Bridge technology is the premier connectivity and expansion choice for a wide range of applications in the computing industry and we will continue to aggressively pursue additional applications for our Split Bridge technology."

"The patent Mobility has been awarded for its Split Bridge technology is a significant milestone in the computing industry," said Remigius Shatas, President and CEO of 2C Computing and a cofounder, former CTO, and board member of Cybex Computer Products Corporation. "Using Split Bridge, we will now be able to implement solutions that were not cost-effective in the past."

About 2C Computing, an Avocent Company
2C Computing brings Digital Extension Technology to the market through its Cstation line of products. 2C Computing, recently acquired by Avocent Corporation to become Avocent's Digital Desktop Division, has been the pioneer in digital bus extension technology; a new archetype in distributed computing that provides the most powerful transport method between a PC and a remote desktop. The Cstation shatters the PCI and USB length limitations, providing IT managers the ability to backrack PCs to a central environment and drastically reduce maintenance at the desktop. IT administrators enjoy ease of maintenance, reduced asset auditing and rapid deployment of new networking technologies, while end users retain full PC functionality and peripherals but with reduced heat, noise, clutter, and with downtimes minimized to minutes.
